Fee Schedule
Effective date: September 26, 2026
Operator: LeonardShopping L.L.C., a Texas limited liability company, d/b/a Print3d Hive
This Fee Schedule is part of the Print3d Hive Terms of Service (§7.3) and the Maker Agreement. It explains how we set your fabrication payout when you fulfill an order. It applies to orders placed on or after the effective date; earlier orders keep the fees in effect when they were placed.
Buying a print? You pay the item price, plus shipping and packaging (once per maker box, shown before you pay), plus any sales tax shown at checkout. Nothing else.
Hive's fee comes out of the maker's side. It is never added to your total.
1. How your payout works
For each order you fulfill, Print3d Hive (as merchant of record) collects the buyer's payment. Buyers see one all-in item price, plus packaging (once per maker box), shipping and tax.
Your living-wage floor (§3) comes first. Item prices are set so the Hive fee and any designer royalty sit on top of your floor, never inside it. From the item price, you get everything except the Hive fee below and the designer royalty (15% of the item price) when the design belongs to someone else. If you designed the item yourself, the royalty is paid to you as well, in the same payout as the rest of your earnings.
Sales tax is never part of the item price. Where sales tax applies, we collect and remit it separately; it does not change your payout or the Hive fee.
Shipping is charged to the buyer at Hive's label cost divided by 0.971, rounded up to the cent, so it also covers the card fee on shipping. Hive buys the shipping label. Shipping is not part of your payout, and the Hive fee is not charged on it. If the label costs more than the buyer paid for shipping, Print3d Hive covers the difference. It never comes out of your pay.
Packaging is charged to the buyer once per maker box, not per item, and is shown before they pay. It covers the box and packing materials (priced by the box's total weight) plus your handling time for each filament plate in the box, at the living-wage rate. You receive the full packaging cost, and no designer royalty is taken from it. The packaging charge carries its share of the Hive fee, worked out together with the rest of your order.
2. The Hive fee
The Hive fee on an order is the greater of:
- (a) the floor, which is the sum of:
- the card fee: currently 2.9% of the item amount plus sales tax, plus $0.30 once per checkout. Shipping is left out, because its card fee is built into the shipping charge.
- the payout fee: currently 0.25% of each payout plus $0.25 for each person paid. A maker who is also the designer counts once.
- $0.50; and
- (b) the percentage fee at the rate for the order (§2.1).
2.1 Launch rate and standard rate
- Launch rate. For orders placed from the Launch Date (September 26, 2026) until the Step-Down Date, the percentage fee is 15% of the first $100 of the pre-tax item amount plus 7% of any amount above $100.
- Standard rate. For orders placed on or after the Step-Down Date, the percentage fee is 12% of the first $100 plus 5% of any amount above $100.
- Step-Down Date means the earlier of (a) March 31, 2027 and (b) the first day of the month after total item sales on Print3d Hive (pre-tax item amounts of paid orders, not counting shipping) over the trailing 30 days first reach $30,000, as shown in the tracker below.
- The rate on an order is the rate in effect when the order is placed. That includes pooled plates: each order keeps its own rate, even if the plate prints after the Step-Down Date.
- The step-down is one-way: once the standard rate takes effect, the launch rate does not come back.
- The floor in (a), your living-wage minimum (§3) and the designer royalty are the same under both rates.
Tracker. The launch rate applies to orders placed today. Trailing 30-day item sales: $2.19 of $30,000. Step-Down Date: March 31, 2027.
The fee is rounded up to the cent.
- The Hive fee covers all payment-processing and payout costs. You see one deduction, and Stripe fees are never taken from your payout separately.
- Plate fill: when several items share a print plate or bed, the plate's shared machine and setup cost is spread across everything on it, so the item price falls as the plate fills. The Hive fee is then worked out on that lower item amount. The saving is gradual and continuous, with no tiers.
- The card and payout costs in (a) are Stripe's published standard rates. If Stripe changes them, the floor changes with them, and we'll post the new rates here.
3. Your minimum (this always wins)
On every order, you receive at least the living-wage floor for the job: the time and materials for the print, with labor costed at the MIT living wage for one adult, before tax (the Pueblo County, Colorado figure is used until a county table exists). Listing prices are set so the pre-tax item amount covers your living-wage floor, any designer royalty and the Hive fee floor together. If the numbers can't all fit, the item price goes up. Your floor is never cut to make room for our fee.
4. Definitions
- Pre-tax item amount: the price the buyer pays for the item(s), before sales tax and shipping, and after any price reduction shown at checkout.
- Order: the items one maker fulfills for one buyer checkout. The Hive fee is worked out per order. The $0.30 card charge in the floor applies once per checkout, even when a checkout has orders from several makers.
- Plate: one print-bed run for one method. Its fill is measured as the total print footprint of the items on it, divided by the usable plate area stored as a platform setting for that method.
- Pooled plate: a plate carrying items from more than one buyer. Each buyer's order is its own order for the Hive fee, and the card fee in the floor applies once per buyer checkout, not once per plate.
- Spillover plate: when items don't fit on one plate, the extra items start a new plate. There is no separate per-plate fee.
5. Refunds and chargebacks
When a buyer gets a refund for a defect, wrong item or non-delivery, the buyer gets the full amount back, including the part that would have been our fee. Under our payout agreement with you, you're responsible only for the payout you received for that order (except for losses caused by your fraud). We never recover the Hive fee from you. Change-of-mind returns follow the return policy shown at checkout.
6. Changes
We'll give makers at least 30 days' notice by email and in-app before any increase to this Fee Schedule (including raising either rate or moving the March 31, 2027 date in §2.1 later). An increase applies only to orders placed after it takes effect. The agreed step-down to the standard rate needs no new notice; we'll still send a reminder about 14 days before and on the day it happens. An order you've already accepted keeps the fee and minimums in effect when the buyer placed it.
7. What the fee is not
The Hive fee isn't billed to buyers and isn't a separate processing charge. It pays for Hive's coordination (checkout, payment processing, tax handling, routing, support and refunds).
